Couple of quick hitters. You can download a copy of a live album from Coldplay. They are handing out a physical copy at their shows this summer (so I'll have both).
About a year ago I heard about Ash doing this. Now it has come to pass. An interesting experiment, I guess only time will tell if it pays off and others follow. Not many have followed the Radiohead/NIN ploy of giving away albums, so who knows how this will do. You can download single #1 for free at their website.

Just grabbed the Ash song. Sounds good. Doubt I'll grab the Coldplay one. They've become less and less interesting to me. I was wondering the other day if I'd ever seen Coldplay live. That made me remember seeing Radiohead open for REM (and outshine them) at the Aud in the mid- to early-90s. Did Travis open for Coldplay (and outshine them) in Toronto? (I feel an upcoming blog entry... "opening acts who were better than the headliner" - look for it!)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Coldplay before. Travis opened for Oasis at Maple Leaf Gardens and they certainly did not outshine the Gallagher Bros & Co. Off the top o' my head I can say The Music was way better than The Vines when I saw that show, but the Vines were wasted.
