Malcolm McLaren Dead

Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren has died. Funny I had no idea he was gravely ill, but I was going to post on him last week. I had recently discovered his Duck Rock album and all its good stuff. Duck Rock dovetails nicely into previous posts on Paul Simon and Vampire Weekend and 'world' inspired music. Missed this first time around in '83, but glad to know it now. It was put together by McLaren, Trevor Horn and Horn's house band who were basically Art of Noise and Thomas Dolby.

Here are two prime examples. I'm sure you'll recognize some future sampled pieces of music in each:

Double Dutch -- "Hey Ebo-Ebo-Ebonettes!!"
